You know what's been on my mind lately? Overalls! I've been wearing them since forever, and let me tell you, they've got quite a story to tell. Let's dive into my favorite piece of clothing, shall we?
8 Trendy Overalls Ideas For Women
Why overalls invented
Overalls, also known as coveralls were originally designed with a loose, baggy fit to allow for ease of movement and comfort. They were made of durable materials such as denim or canvas like jeans, and were often reinforced with extra layers of fabric in high-wear areas to increase their lifespan. Plus, the baggy overalls have many useful pockets which would help farmers and factory workers hold their tool.
The trends of overalls
Overalls started to be worn by persons working in a range of occupations as they gained popularity as everyday clothing, and their design changed to fit various fashion trends. Overalls gained popularity among young people as a casual, comfortable garment in the 1930s and 1940s. They were frequently worn with a t-shirt or a button-up shirt.
The Rebel Years
Overalls were frequently worn as a sign of disobedience and nonconformity during the counterculture movement in the 1950s and 1960s and came to be associated with it.
The Wild 90s
In the 90's, overalls became popular in the grunge and skater subcultures, being worn by skater guys and girls. They were usually ripped and distressed, often were worn very baggy, and became a fashion trend like everything else, by some people deciding that they liked it.
Over time, overalls became popular as casual, everyday wear, and they were often worn baggy in order to allow for ease of movement and comfort. However, they have also been adapted to a variety of other styles, including more fitted and trendy looks.

How to fix when too big
Now, here's something I know all too well - what to do when your overalls are just too big! After years of trial and error (and some pretty funny fashion moments), here are my tried-and-true fixes:
Belt it up, honey! A cute belt can work wonders. I have this lovely floral one that just transforms my baggy overalls.
Get clippy with it! Those little clips or pins are lifesavers when the straps keep sliding off. (Been there, fixed that!)
Hem the legs: You can shorten your overalls' legs if they are excessively long by hemming them. They will hang more easily and appear more fitting as a result of this.
Have them altered: After attempting the aforementioned fixes, if the overalls are still too baggy, you might want to think about having a tailor make some alterations. The overalls' fit can be altered by a tailor to more comfortably and attractively fit your body.
Share the love! If they're way too big, why not pass them on? I've donated several pairs over the years - spreading the overall joy!
