Summer is officially yelling "BBQ TIME!" right?! Getting dressed can sometimes feel like a puzzle, especially when it's hot but you still wanna look cute and actually be comfy enough to eat ALL the things and maybe even play some lawn games 😉.

So, I was thinking about my go-to stuff, and here’s the lowdown on what I usually reach for:

1. The Easy Breezy Dress!

Seriously, nothing beats just popping on a light, loose fitting dress. Cotton or linen is a MUST. Find one in a fun print or a bright color? You're instantly summer-ready. Add big sunnies and maybe a floppy hat, and you look effortlessly chic but feel like you're wearing pajamas. Winner!

2. Denim Shorts + Cute Tee

This is my default when I can't think. High-waisted shorts (because who needs to be adjusting their clothes all day?) and either a cute graphic tee or just a simple tank. Tuck it in if you're feeling fancy! Throw on some sneakers you don't mind getting a little dirty and you're good to go.

3. Evening BBQ? Maxi Time!

If things might go late or it feels a tiny bit fancier, I grab a flowy maxi dress. It's like secret pajamas but people think you tried. I have this one with tiny flowers that's my go-to. And flat sandals only - I learned the wedges-in-grass lesson the hard way 🤦‍♀️

 4. For My Pants People!

Not into showing your legs? LINEN PANTS ARE LIFE.

Wide Leg linen pants are breathable and provide a relaxed, breezy fit. Pair them with a simple t-shirt or a lightweight blouse. 

This outfit is perfect for a BBQ where you might be sitting on the ground or playing games, offering comfort without sacrificing style. Finish off with a pair of sandals or slide flats for a laid-back yet polished look. 

5. The One-Piece Wonder!

Sometimes my brain just can't with outfit planning, ya know? A romper or jumpsuit is your BFF here. One thing on and you're done! Just make sure it's not too tight or you'll regret it after plate #2 of ribs (speaking from experience here).

Floral patterns, stripes, or solid colors can all look great. Pair with some comfy sandals or slip-on shoes for a fun and functional outfit. 

6. Skirt Situation.

I've been really into high-waisted midi skirts lately with just a simple top tucked in. Feels a bit more "put together" than shorts but still super comfy and practical. Plus if you sit on grass you don't have to worry about your thighs sticking to anything!

Opt for a high-waisted skirt in a breezy fabric and pair it with a fitted crop top. This combo allows you to show a bit of skin without feeling overexposed. Complete the look with some low wedges or flat sandals. 

7. The Wildcard - Cute Overalls!

If you prefer more coverage, a baggy overalls can be a great alternative. Look for one in a breathable material with a cinched waist to highlight your figure. 

The baggy overalls can be easily dressed up or down, making it versatile for different types of BBQs. Pair with some comfy sandals or boots for a practical yet stylish outfit in summer or winter.

8. SHOES ARE EVERYTHING!!!

Seriously, think practical! You'll probably be walking on grass or uneven ground. Leave the stilettos at home! I live in cute flat sandals (ones with cushioned soles are best!), block heels (they don't sink!), espadrille flats or wedges, or stylish sneakers. Comfort is NON-NEGOTIABLE!

9. THE REAL MVPs OF BBQ DRESSING:

Sun Protection Stuff:

Hat! Sunglasses! Sunscreen that doesn't smell like a chemical factory! Your future self will thank you.

Bag Strategy:

You need hands for holding plates and drinks! Crossbody or nothing for me. Tried a clutch once and ended up making my boyfriend hold it the whole time 😅

Sunglasses(day) + scarf (nite)

Sunglasses are a must to shield your eyes from the glare.

If the evening turns cool, a lightweight scarf can add a touch of elegance and keep you warm. Opt for accessories in coordinating colors to tie your outfit together. 

10. FABRICS, FABRICS, FABRICS

I learned this the hard way - cotton and linen are the only acceptable options when it's hot. I have this one polyester dress that looks super cute in photos but turns me into a swamp monster after 20 minutes outside.

Honestly though? Wear whatever makes you feel awesome! The best outfit is one you forget about because you're too busy having fun and eating all the food!

A: Listen, I live dangerously. But yeah maybe save your favorite white pieces for when you're not around BBQ sauce!

A: Bring a change of top! Seriously. Wear the comfy practical stuff, then switch to the cute-but-impractical top for 5 mins of photos!

This head-to-toe item always creates a striking look and goes well with different kinds of shoes to create a laid-back effect or a cool confident vibe. Actually, they are a kind of a bit no brainer for anyone if you keep these  3 guides in your mind. Here we go!

1. Choose the Appropriate One for Different Occasions

A. For Casual Occasions:

The casual jumpsuits coming in relaxed fits are a perfect item for your everyday dressing. To get an extremely comfortable and flattering look, choose fabrics from cotton, thin denim and linen varieties that are breathable, air-fresh and suits your silhouettes.

Plus, avoid casual jumpsuits that are too loose to overwhelm yourself easily and make you look shapeless. On the contrary, opt for the jumpsuits featuring a drawstring waist or tie a belt around it to adjust the looseness.

B. For Formal Occasions:

To make your jumpsuits formal-appropriate, try on a well-tailored and sleek style that can flatter your figure. Colors such as navy blue, black,  white or wine red are always "safe" for those dressier events. Accessorize with a statement bag, chic jewelry and a pair of high heels for attending a party, a meeting or ceremony.

A. For Plus Size:  

For the plus-size bodies, wide leg jumpsuits would be good to balance your silhouette and camouflage your trouble areas, such as the wide hip or fat legs. Also,  to make your body elongated thereby giving you a more slender appearance, the trick is to go for the high-waisted design and dark shades as well. Since large chest may be a big problem for plus size women, I would suggest jumpsuits with open necklines like " V-Neck" or "wide scoop" that could possibly slim your face and make the chest comparatively smaller and proportioned.

B. For Slim Women: 

Straight-leg jumpsuits are a good option for slim women. The design can lengthen your leg lines and highlight your lower body.  In addition, both sleeveless or short sleeves jumpsuits are recommended to let your slender arms look more beautiful and also create an ultra-chic look.

C. For the Tall Women: 

Tall women have the perfect frame to carry the jumpsuits well. The key is to ensure the jumpsuits have the right length. Avoid those jumpsuits that are too baggy or too tight, which definitely ruin your portion. Plus, I don't advise you to choose the floor-length jumpsuits because it makes your leg length inappropriate and not practical in our daily dressing. Opt for something shorter than your silhouette to make it right for your frame instead.

D. For the Petite Women:

To find the right jumpsuits for the petite women, I personally think a belted waist works flawlessly since it accentuates our form and hugs our bodies. What's more,  the vertical striped jumpsuits are another must-have staple to create a straight line appearance, making you look slimmer and taller. You can also wear the heels or wedges for adding extra height.

3. Choose the Appropriate Shoes

A. High Heels:

Heels are good for maximum height and impact. For the dressier occasions, including the business meeting, wedding, or the commercial party,  heels are good to present a confident, powerful and sophisticated vibe.

B. Sneakers/ Trainers/ Flats/ Mules: 

They are versatile and all-year-ready. They are definitely your best choices to maximize comfort.

C. Sandals/ Flip Flops: 

Off to the beach or have a cruise trip?  Accessorize with a straw hat and adding flat sandals or simple flip flops to your holiday luggage. Add a pair of sunglasses if possible, you can get a comfortable and elegant summer style!
